🛶 The Gear That Gets You

Made from 100% ring-spun Comfort Colors cotton, because these aren't backcountry performance layers, they're the shirt you pull out of the dry bag when the suffering is officially over. That broken-in, lived-in feel right out of the package is intentional. Heavyweight, true to size, and built to survive the bugs, the rain, the campfire smoke, and the post-portage debrief. You already have the technical gear. This is the other kind. Printed and shipped by people who absolutely packed too much and are not sorry about it.

Washing Instructions

How to Not Ruin Your New Favorite Shirt:

  • Cold water only (hot water is for overachievers)
  • Turn inside out before washing (protect that graphic you're gonna wear until it falls apart)
  • Use a gentle detergent - this garment-dyed cotton is chill, keep it that way
  • First wash might bleed a little, so separate it from your fancy stuff
  • Tumble dry low or hang dry (air drying = more time for snacks)

Drying Instructions:

  1. Avoid High Heat: Air-drying is best to prevent shrinking and maintain the soft texture.
  2. Tumble Dry Low (Optional): If using a dryer, select a low heat or delicate setting.
  3. Remove Promptly: Take the shirt out of the dryer as soon as it's dry to prevent wrinkles.

Additional Tips:

  • Avoid using bleach or harsh detergents as they can fade the color.
  • Do not use fabric softeners, which may affect the shirt's texture.
  • If the shirt has a graphic print, avoid ironing directly on the design. Use a pressing cloth or turn the shirt inside out when ironing.
Shipping & Returns

Good Things Take Time (But Not Too Long)

Free shipping on orders with 3 items or more because we reward commitment to the cause.

Orders ship within 7 days, because good gear is worth the wait and you've already survived longer portages than this. Once it leaves our hands, our shipping partners do their thing and you'll have it in 2-5 days. Track it obsessively or forget about it completely, we support both approaches.

Returns: The "Something Went Wrong" Policy

Look, we want you to love your gear. If something arrives damaged, defective, or just plain wrong, we'll make it right, that's on us.

Here's the deal:

Got something damaged or defective? Full refund, no questions asked. You have 30 days from purchase to let us know. Item needs to be unused and in the condition you received it. Email us at support@portagetees.com, we're actual humans who respond.

We're not a faceless corporation. If something's wrong, just reach out. We're all just trying to enjoy the backcountry without unnecessary drama.

Policy subject to change, but we'll always keep it reasonable.

In love with this minimalist line art design. It is cotton, but it's great for days when the weather isn't so harsh and I wanna be comfy.

Jake M.

Wore this on a 7-day loop and got asked about it at so many portages. Instant conversation starter.

Melissa H.

This shirt was made for me. I've taken three wrong turns on portage trails this summer alone and I wear it completely unironically. Soft, fits great, and my paddling crew thought it was hilarious. Already planning to order another colour.

Kevin G.

Solid shirt, fabric is great and the design always gets a laugh. Took a bit longer to arrive than expected but worth the wait.

Tanya B.

Got this for my husband before our first canoe trip. He brings it every trip now!

Nicole F.

Honestly just a really good shirt. Soft right out of the package and the design is exactly what it looks like in the photos.

Brad K.

Lmao this shirt is too real. By around day 3 of our last trip nobody was winning any awards in the smell department. It's a running joke in our crew.

What we make

Built for
after the
carry.

Built for after the portage, not during it. Each shirt is made from quality ring-spun Comfort Colors cotton that gets better with every campfire, every campsite, and every post-paddle debrief.

You already have the performance gear. This is what you put on when the suffering is officially over.

Bottom line -- these are shirts you simply can't find anywhere else.

What Goes Into
every shirt.

Built for the tribe. Worth every dollar.

Designed by people who've actually done a portage.

Every design starts on a trail, not in a boardroom. If it doesn't land with someone who's been there, it doesn't ship.

Premium cotton. Prints built to outlast the trip.

100% ring-spun Comfort Colors cotton. Heavyweight, broken-in feel right out of the package. The print survives the wash cycle, the campfire smoke, and the next five seasons.

Designs you won't find at MEC, REI, or anywhere else on earth.

Wearable inside jokes for people who've earned them. The right person at the trailhead will stop you. That's the whole point.

Who we are

Why
Portage
Tees.

We're not a lifestyle brand. We're a consequence of your choices brand. Built by people who've actually done the portage, eaten the wrap in the rain, and argued about pack weight way longer than necessary.

We make the shirts that the tribe recognizes. The ones that make a stranger at the put-in stop and say "oh my god, yes." If you get the joke, you've probably earned it.

Why Portage Tees
Comfort for the Long Carry

Built for the trail

Comfort made
for the
wild.

Whether you're having a snack mid-portage, setting up camp, or debriefing the day around the fire -- our tees are made for the people who packed too much, chose the hard route, and would do it all again.

Gear that holds up out there. And looks good doing it.

The cotton thing

Your new

Soft, durable, and worth the extra weight.

PRODUCT FAQ's

Is this shirt actually good quality or just a novelty tee?

It is 100% ring-spun Comfort Colors cotton, which is a premium blank used by serious apparel brands. Heavyweight, soft, and gets better with every wash. These are not cheap shirts. They are built to be worn, not just laughed at once and forgotten.

Do your shirts run true to size?

All our shirts run true to size with a relaxed unisex fit. If you are between sizes or prefer a more fitted look, size down. If you like a looser, broken-in camp shirt feel, stay true to size or go up.

How do I wash it without ruining the print?

Turn it inside out, cold wash, low heat dry or hang dry. The print is built to last but heat is the enemy of any quality graphic tee. Treat it right and it will outlast a lot of your gear.
